Sunjiang District: Annoying Elite Captures
Currently I'm replaying Sunjiang District to get Equinox for my Ranger. I've done it three times and still no Ranger Construct at the end. I had the same experience capturing Soul Bind for my Necromancer. (4th try was the charm.)
I think placing elites on randomly spawned boss monsters in a mission is really poor design. It's especially poor in this mission because you need to fight through the entire thing just to find out if the boss will spawn.
In Prophecies the bosses would be randomly placed, but always be in the map.

The explorable area of Sunjiang district has a gate which opens up after completion of the mission. This area will spawn all 6 core class constructs. The ranger construct is the first one. Walk to the south of the area from Zin Ku Corridor towards Pongmei valley then turn west. You will run into a gate into the mission area where the constructs will be. The ritualist construct spawns outside unwaking waters (kurzick) and the assassin construct outside unwaking waters (luxon).

^^ Thanks so much. I guess I misread the guild wiki entry. It does say Sunjiang District, but I thought it meant the mission and not the explorable area.

Actually they wont always spawn in prophesies as I've discovered trying to cap stupid restore condition the last 5 times...

and tytyty for that thing on the sunjiang district exploreable... I actually went and killed Gita in Boreas seabed mission so I wouldnt need to redo that mission 4 times to get life sheath.

That's not true. And quite a few were much harder to get to than the average Factions elite, as well. Ether Prodigy anyone?

there are 6 bosses total, but if u're doing the mis, u can kill only 4 at the wery end, and u're not going to have enough time for any skillcaps from the last boss u kill. however u can explore this area AFTER u beat this mis and all 6 bosses will spawn near the portals. for some reasons melee henchy werent able to reach monk construct, prolly a minor bug, but u can nuke him and cap his elite anyway.

Well I guess my statement was based on personal experience. I use the elite map that was compiled for prophecies some time ago. I've never missed an elite on any of the missions/areas where the elite was indicated. I'd love to know some examples of where certain elites don't always spawn. (Just for reference of course.)

Seems that it's potentially in three spots. A bit of a slog, but if you search all three spots you're guaranteed to get it.
For me Incendiary Arrows was a toughie to get on my ranger. Eventually I figured out that Barrage + Winter did the trick.
However, my least favorite skill cap has to be Feast of Corruption. Slogging all the way to Dreadnought's Drift through Snake Dance is so unpleasant.

Well it was actually 8 when I count my necro and ranger together. I also think my original thought still stands: random placement is fine, but random spawns are not when it comes to boss monsters and skill capping.

Obsidian Flesh and Quickshot, only one of those two bosses will ever load at a time outside Emberlight Camp on Perdition Rock.

Some other annoy elite skill caps in tyria are Earth Shaker and Healing Hands. That ettin boss with HH only spawn in few places, but I had to rezone near 10 times to get him spawn -_-
